Dr. William Baker D.V.M

William (Bill) Baker DVM is the President of William J. Baker LLC, where he provides consulting services regarding the development of veterinary drugs. Bill has 30 years of experience in veterinary medicine R&D, working in Pfizer Animal Health/Zoetis Research and Development, and as a veterinary drug development consultant. Bill earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts.

During his 23 years in Pfizer’s Animal Health Research and Development Division (later launched by Pfizer as a stand-alone animal health company, Zoetis Inc.), Bill was the Regulatory Affairs lead on a number of animal health development programs that achieved FDA registration. These included Dectomax® antiparasitic for cattle and swine, and Draxxin® antibiotic for cattle. Later, as the Vice President of Zoetis Clinical Development, Bill’s team of over 100 scientists and veterinarians developed and registered numerous animal drugs and vaccines, most notably, Apoquel® for dogs. As the head of Clinical Development, Bill served on the Zoetis Veterinary Medicine Leadership Team, which had overall responsibility for setting strategic and registration goals, and allocating resources to prioritize and advance the company’s R&D portfolio.

After retiring from Zoetis, Bill formed a consulting company to provide guidance and advice to clients wishing to understand the data requirements, timelines, and costs involved in developing new veterinary pharmaceuticals for registration with global health authorities.

Bill is married with two children. In his spare time, he enjoys outdoor sports, including golf and snow skiing. He lives outside of Tucson, Arizona.
